    Best hubs without bearing buddies

Hey all. I recently replaced my entire axle on my Triton. This new axle has larger spindles and larger castle nuts. Bearing buddies will not fit over the castle nut. I've gone through a couple hubs since water penetrates easy into the standard brass hub caps.

Does anyone have a good hub to recommend for this?

It is likely the water penetration is from the rear seals and not from, or at least not exclusively from, the front hub cover. You can use a hub cover that does not have the rubber access piece and is one solid piece. You would bang them off when greasing the hub from the front if you have a grease zerk on the front. You can then try to re-use it or sometimes easier to just replace it to ensure best seal. That would pretty much minimize the possibility for water penetration at the front.

Once you get a rear seal that is doing it's job, a front cover that does its, and add your desired level of grease, no need to frequently add or check grease levels. It has no where to go. Bearing Buddies offer a solution to a problem that might not exist. Or at least will not likely exist if again you have good seals front a back.

Modern greases can handle small amounts of water intrusion without breaking down. You just want to avoid bulk water intrusion.

Personal theory here. A good quality double lip seal on the rear of the hub(nothing out, nothing in). Hand pack the bearings. Put a solid front cap. Forget about it. As long as the seals don't blow, there is no way to loose the inside grease. Think about, how often do your grease your front axles hubs on your vehicle?

Have to agree but your not submerging the vehicle hubs under water once or twice every couple of days either ????

Submerging a hot hub in lake water is what gets them. If there's a weak spot anywhere it will suck water in.
