    Avx1980 in 24' garage

Can anybody confirm the 1980 fits in a 24' deep garage? I have right at 23' inside the garage. I'm looking to trade my ranger rt178c in on one this weekend. The dealer is a couple hours drive away. Dont want to bring home a boat that won't fit.

I've had a couple people say it wouldn't fit even though the website says 22 foot 6 inches. I have 22 foot 9 inches from the garage door to the block. I have one course of block with a regular 2x4 wall on top. To the wall i have another 4 inches. The dealer is a couple hours drive and i was taking my current boat to trade. I didn't want to find out after all the trouble it wont fit. I have to remove my electronics before we trade.

You can chisel out 4" of the cinder block to help out with clearance. The 2x4 wall only sits on the outer 4" anyway. Then dress it up with some mortar mix. I have the same depth garage and construction. My 1880 (18'10") fits fine but another foot would be real close. I think I would have to cut the blocks. Good Luck.

You can also call the dealer and have them measure for you.

I’d get an exact measurement of the space you have in your garage… I wouldn’t use a “right at” number. I’d know 100% what I had to work with. Then I’d head to the dealer with boat in tow for trade. First thing I’d do @ the dealership is get my tape measure out & measure the exact length of the 1980 your wanting to purchase. Motor down, tilted, & swing tongue on trailer folded if it has one. Then you know w/o a shadow of doubt whether the boat fits.

    Good luck sir!

I measured it before buying it. It was 22 foot even. I have to lower the motor but it goes straight in.

Sorry I dont know the exact length of the boat and trailer, but for reference I have 25 feet in my garage from back wall to garage door and my 1980 barely fits with a foot behind the motor and a foot in from of the folded tongue. Keep in mind I do have a 6" hydraulic jack plate on my 1980. The foot in the back and the front just leaves me room to squeeze through if need be. During the summer I keep my boat outside in the driveway. I hung a tennis ball from the ceiling that hits the back of the motor cowling when Im in just the right spot. Takes the guessing out of backing my boat into the garage.
"Im ya huckleberry." Chasin bass and rippin lips is just my game.
