    Lake Apopka in August

    Looking to see if any members live around Lake Apopka in Florida. I will be spending a couple of weeks there as my daughter is training with her new service dog. Wanting to get some local knowledge on the fishing. Looks like I will have a lot of free time.

    Do you have a boat? If so, Apopka is part of the Harris Chain and there's plenty of good fishing all over even in the heat of August. Fishing from shore I can't really help but like all of Central Florida there's no shortage of canals, ponds and public water you can walk the shore that hold fish

    How long of a run is it from Harris, how many locks? What sort of fishing on Apopka is there, flipping or cranking?

    At least 45 min boat ride to Harris, 1 lock. May be easier to trailer the boat. Mostly flipping on Apopka. Offshore grass was sprayed in April, I'm sure some has come back, but I haven't been since May. I would recommend the Apopka-Beauclair canal, Beauclair or Dora.
