Steps or latch lock for BassBoat to trailer

Have back issues & having surgery so looking for recommendations to easier access to hook & unhook winch strap & loading & unloading my 2004 Champion 187. Steps or bow latching system? Steps would have to be attached to the trailer, not feasible to attach to winch stand or tongue & I don’t see any boat to trailer locks for bass boats. If someone has a recommendation I would appreciate your advise.

Besides any steps you make get, look at the Boat EFX Booma step that attaches to tongue. It makes a nice secure step to stand on when hooking winch strap. I really like mine!

I stand by anything Boat EFX makes given my experience with them. I don't have the Booma Step. But their steps are awesome.

This! I can even stand on the lowest step to hook and unhook the strap. Before I got them getting in and out of my boat when loading and unloading put my nuts right over the trolling motor and was one slip away from going soprano. Just gotta be careful with turning radius on that one side but if you have enough distance between the winch post and the bumper it's not really a worry.

I love my Boat EFX steps. I can't remember who but someone makes a lever type of release that also auto latches when loading.

I just installed the Trick Step‘s and I can’t believe I did without them for so many years. I suggest you go with the steps.

Thank you to all the great reply's. I can't use the tongue because it is a tuck under & I use it to be able to close my garage door. To attach the steps to the winch stand, the winch stand would have to be modified.

I designed and made 3 of my own and can mount them wherever i like on the trailer. I'm biased, but, they are quite a bit safer and sturdier than anything on the market.....and I studied and tested what's out there.

    However, I'm admittedly biased......

I recently added Trick Steps and the Ramp and Clamp. I am very happy with both. Trick Steps are very solid.

Thank you for all the answers to my request. Haven’t replied sooner as I just got out of surgery yesterday. Six to eight weeks recovery so I have time to research. Thank you everyone.j
