I’d say that’s a good advertisement for how safe they are.

And then he blames Tesla for using DOT3 fluid. Literally everyone that races knows to use DOT4 fluid when on a track.

Yeah, it's Tesla's fault you're an idiot. He cooked his brakes and boiled the fluid. No helmet either. Real genius we're dealing with here.

No helmet, apparently no air bags? 170 mph on a track?

Wait.. I haven't watched the video but article says he had changed out the brake system for a more "track ready system"... then 170 mph on a track... How and why would this be a Tesla issue at all?

YouTube and Instagram are a curse to humanity because there are too many idiots who want become "famous" by filming stupid stuff. Personally, I am tired of seeing cars going 150 mph on public interstates. I don't care if these fools kill themselves but often time that is not the end result. At least this fool was on a track.

If you're gonna spend $130K on a Plaid model S and then take it to the track, you could atleast buy the upgraded racing brake package from Tesla.

Not many cars can wreck at 160 mph and the driver walks away.

That still would not have solved his issue since Tesla uses DOT 3 in their performance brakes as well. DOT 4 is intended for track use where extended braking at high speed will happen. It has much higher boiling point. Consequently DOT4 is also high maintenance. It is very hygroscopic and should be changed every year, or before every track event.

This idiot boiled his brakes. Once there is gas in the system you lose all hydraulic pressure. He even said he didn't replace the fluid, only topped it off after swapping rotors and calipers.

    Darwin winner.

Yes, if you see his previous videos he removed alot of metal to make his vehicle lighter. He should have had a cage! He is lucky he only got a couple broken bones.

“Uncle Chet” is actually a very successful guy but I’m not sure what his thought process is with this car…he’s been stripping it down trying to push as much as possible out of it but the lack of safety in all of it is insane too me. He was lucky with this one, hopefully he learns from it
