    Two side imaging transducers

Just came back from oshkosh wi and saw a marine dealership had installed two hummingbird si transducers on transom about 3 feet apart on each side of motor. Anybody doing this? How does it work? What's your thoughts?
This was on a tiller boat and full size walleye boat.
    thx

It is done for installations where the hull, motor/s or accessory add-ons block one side of a Side Imaging transducer. A SILR Y cable is used to split off the left side SI piezo of the main transducer and connect the left side piezo of another SI transducer in its place. 2D, DI, Right SI, and Temp come from the right side SI transducer all the time and Left SI comes from the left side SI transducer all the time.

    Thanks Wayne,
Is thIS controlled by ONE head unit set with split screen, or will it show up ON one screen?

There is no "control" involved, just wires that are disconnected and connected. Read my response above again.

Just to confirm, ignoring potential obstructions, it's accurate to say that whatever left/right SI returns you're getting from using one transducer, you'd get the same returns from using two (identical) transducers?

In other words, two SI transducers doesn't improve your resolution, signal strength, -db loss, etc. The only benefit is avoiding the obstruction, correct?

There is no gain and no loss between using two with a SILR Y cable and a single SI transducer except the physical gap between the two SI piezos.
