I recently bought a new to me Ranger 190 with a 175 hpdi running a 21-m prop. The prop is dinged up on outer edges so I am looking to repair or replace. Upon some further research yesterday,I feel I may be propped too small but I don’t know how to verify. With the current prop, I can hit 54 gps at about 5750 rpm. Prop to pad is 5”, no jack plate. From my research, it sounds like those numbers are in the ballpark. However, on the different threads I was researching, seems like most guys are running 23,24 or 25’s. I did send out emails to two prop shops, waiting to hear back. So, how do I verify the right prop for my boat. I should add, the hole shot seems adequate now, maybe three seconds to plane but if I can get even better hole shot and better top speed by changing props then that would be great. Any thoughts? Thanks
