    Cleaning Solix Touch Screen

I have a Solix Gen3 and a Lowrance on my console. Both got a lot of hard water spots during a trip to the Outer Banks. Lowrance recommends cleaning their screens with 50% water and 50% alcohol, and it worked great. But I can’t get the Solix screen looking right again. Any recommendations for a safe way to clean the Solix?

Thank you Wayne. I had seen that video but wasn’t sure if it was safe to use that Windex product he recommends. Glad you are confirming that is the way to go. I really appreciate it.

It MUST be the Vinegar version, not the regular version.

Put a screen protector from Russell Marine on it then you can clean it with anything.

I've done well with vinegar and water due to the super hard water around here.

When I got back from the coast I started with the vinegar/water solution per the Hummingbird site. It did almost nothing which really surprised me. I just went out and got the Windex Multi Surface with Vinegar and it did way better than anything I’ve tried. There are still some very faint marks that I can’t seem to remove but I never notice them out on the water.

I do wonder if I put the glass protector from Russell Marine on it if I could still see the faint marks through it. I was hoping to get it completely clean then add the protector.

Wet a cloth or paper towel with your solution put ot on the spots and let it soak for a while.

This is not intended to be a flippant answer but the best way to address water spots is to never have them in the first place. Most of the screen protectors do a great job of preventing or reducing water spots and fingerprints... Especially on the touchscreen Solix and Apex models.

Once you get the water spots removed, I highly recommend installing a good screen protector if you haven't already.

Yes, that’s what I’m trying to do. Get it restored and then a screen protector. This is my first Bird; love it but the screens are definitely more sensitive.

I will never have another graph without a screen protector - IMO they should come stock with one. Windex with vinegar is great for cleaning, been using it for years.

Is there anyone here that has tried a screen protector and didn't like using it?

If you get one with a no glare coating it will fuzz the view a bit. Clear glass will reflect a little, but not change a direct view either. The protection from knocks and chemicals is worth the cost. JMO Bob

Agree with Bob the only protector that I bought and didn't like was an antiglare model a few years back.
