My next door neighbor was using rat shot for carpenter bees earlier this year, we live in the country so not a problem. He got 30+ in one afternoon. Saw the salt gun advertised and looks fun.

They can be fun and work very well at the same time.

They are very well built … they may look like a toy but there’s a solidness to them. My first one is about 3 years old now and still shoots as well as when it was new in spite of the salt hopper lid being held on with duck tape. It’s been dropped, got wet and just keeps going. The new one I posted above has a bit more kick and a larger salt reservoir.

Still have our three and use em frequently on flies. Very effective, just don’t let the salt sit in the gun too long, it’ll crystallize.

I got a double barrel for Christmas but one barrel is not loading salt, going to have to work on it.

Well Bilgerat, your last two threads about your gun has made me want one more than ever so I told the wife that’s what I wanted for my birthday in a month. She ordered it right after I told her about.

The bug war will be on in no time!

Maybe I’ll send you some sporty footwear for your birthday …

You’re gonna love the gun. Use regular fine grain table salt … they will shoot course grain but you get a more consistent better pattern and better kill ratio with regular grain.

Gave one to my Dad for Fathers Day. He hasn't used it yet. I want to go play with it!

Would I be going overboard if I got a grim reaper costume to wear while I’m using the gun?
