    I done got claustrophobic.

    Update on reply number 73.

I knew I had been having anxiety thinking about getting MRIs.
Had 5 in my past. But I couldn't do it. Start to go in the small tube. Man, I just peed, but got to go. Girl says, OK. Backs me back, and lowers me.
    Let's me go hit restroom.
Then we try again. Get in there for maybe 2 minutes. Legs start tightening up and shaking, kept pushing the alarm ball.
Girls like, breath, breath. Don't you go having a heart attack on me! I just can't do it anymore. Going to have to work out getting a ride, and reschedule. Ask for the big boar MRI machine, and to be drugged. Home now, and still trying to relax. Sucks! I was hoping Tuesday when I went to my primary doctor's appointment, he would have the MRI readings, to get me to a Orthopedic Surgeon.
Don't know why I got claustrophobic.

    Anyone else claustrophobic?

Yes. If I'm watching a show and the character is in a tight place, I have to change channel or get out of the room... MRIs I get knocked out.

Look for open MRI in your area.

MRIs are part of my life. They strap my neck & head down like concrete.
However, I do get nice earplugs and can watch TV. Usually fall asleep.

This company has numbers of locations. And I asked the girl if they had a open MRI machine anywhere. She said no. Said they would just have to drug me, and run me through the big boar MRI machine, if I get a ride and reschedule so they could do so. I will ask my doctor. Maybe he can get me a referral to another place that has one. Everything has to go through my primary doctor with my insurance. And I see doctor on Tuesday. I am hurting from my body tensing up earlier.

I always put a towel over my face.
    It helped immensely.

I have had lot's of MRI's but the hard one was 16 weeks of radiation on my throat for cancer, you have a custom fit "goalie like mask" that gets snapped down to hold your head from moving while in the machine.

I have had 3 brain MRIs in 3 different types of tubes. First one the tight tube. Second an open MRI and third a machine in between. You have to focus on the noises and think techno music. Have them put a radio station in your earphones. Count 5 songs and it's over with. Most important is controlled breathing to relax you.

It's all in your heads! You know that nothing is going to happen to you while you're in there, why all of the anxiety?

Something in my head has sure changed. No problem at all before, or during my past 5 I had done. I can't figure it out. But different nights thinking about it, I had anxiety. And I just couldn't do it today.

I had to endure one of those too. When my treatments were over the gal asked me if I wanted to take the mask home.......I told her I never want to see that damn thing again..!

Had a fellow submarine Machinist Mate go Claustrophobic a few days into patrol, had to break protocol and chopper evacuate.
I've endured a few MRIs etc, no problem, but then again I'm semi crazy.

Have had more MRIs than I can count. First one 30 years ago on my neck, I came out crying. Past couple of years I have had two on my back. Newer open bore/short tube machine I could handle them with two mg of Xanax. With my head in the middle of the MRI, I will go ahead and die.

Watch TV? I’m jealous. I get one every 2-3 months. About 20+ min, pull me out and shoot contrast in me and go back in for 20+ minutes again. Almost always good for 2 naps. I try and schedule about an hour after lunch. Last one about a month ago, the guy told me I was snoring.
