    baitcast question?

i've got baitcast reels that when i reel in a fish the handle moves without moving the spool. Obviously when i crank down the drag it fixes the issue but i dont want the drag to be so dang tight. What am i missing with this?

If you can’t find a happy medium between no drag and max drag, it’s possible the drag washers are worn out and need to be replaced.

Agree with the above. If the handle is moving without the spool moving, that's the drag slipping. The only way to stop the drag slipping is to tighten it. If you don't want it that tight (because you want it to slip a bit during a hookset, I'm guessing?) then you've either got to live with it while cranking in a fish, or work on tightening the drag after hooking the fish. Otherwise, as dabassking mentions, your drag washers may be toast.
