Just curious, what hole is your 60hp 4 stroke Merc in on the transom of your Pro Team 175?

On mine originally, 2nd from top.
I use a 4" Atlas JP now, so I now have it as low as I can get it.

What is a 4” Atlas JP?
JP = Jack Plate, without one the general consensus is to be raised one hole higher than the lowest mounting height for the 60hp.
I believe those with 75-90hp go two holes higher than lowest motor height.
(not that you asked but wanted to differentiate due to thread title not being specific to 60hp)

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if raising one hole would make a difference or not.
2nd hole from the top is where those small motors seem to run the best on a Tracker 175, what speed are you getting out of it now?
35 mph @ 5600 RPM but, I think the steering is to hard. I’ve had other boats that as soon as I get on plane and trim the motor up it would be obvious when I hit the “sweet spot” I don’t feel that on this setup.
35 at 5600 RPM is great for a 60 hp.
Slab Hunter, Check out my thread on a prop change here.

I noticed a improvement in that stiff steering your describing with my prop change. As far as answering your question, I'm in the second hole from the top as was suggested earlier.
Good Luck in making it all you want it to be.

Thanks for the reply CincyGus. I hope to get the motor moved up this week. I have been looking at the Spitfire on Amazon pretty hard but thought I would see what I got out of this first. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
I run the Trophy Sport 14p

One last comment for you slabhunter. Is the steering hard one direction only or is it both directions? Reason I ask is I believe there is an adjustment that can be made to the bottom part of the motor that may help with that if it's one direction. The part name is escaping my old brain right now but it's meant to help with a little countering of the torque of the prop puts on steering when coming out of the hole shot and accelerating. If the steering is hard both directions, I'd look at a cable binding somewhere aft of the cockpit. maybe a transducer cable routed poorly or something along the starboard side under those trim pieces.

Good info. Thanks
Its called a "trim tab", and is meant to be adjusted to counteract the torque due to the rotation of the prop. Turn the trailing edge of the tab into the direction that is experiencing the pull.

I have a 2021 Pro 175 with 75HP its in the 2nd hole. top speed flat water 43/44 mph GPS on the fish-finder and speed-o.
Attempted to raise the motor, secured the motor, removed all four bolts, couldn’t break the seal between the boat and motor. Any suggestions or do I just need a bigger hammer?
Probably, the sealant is probably holding it in place.

It is blkfalc4! I had all the bolts completely removed. I tried prying it off and never broke the seal!
