    Fourstroke ProXS LU/Prop question

    2B573410

I am seriously hoping I am just losing my mind. Someone keep me from going crazy. I just got the boat back from the Shift actuator recall and I did the oil change and lower unit fluid since both were needed. I don't remember the prop being keyed? My only thought is something got in there and caused this? The inside edge of the LU didn't appear to be missing anything.

Look around the lip on the LU . Buddy just had his replaced cause his had little cracks all the way around And a piece broke off and did the same thing to his prop

Rubbing inside the LU caused the burr you have. Being that big something got trapped between the prop OD and the inside of the LU housing. I'm sure the inside of the housing has allot of aluminum missing.

May, or may not have much to see on the gearcase, but you SHOULD inspect for that. I've seen this a couple times- usually just use a chisel to pop the piece of slag off the prop bore, and if necessary, carefully file away and remaining material. You can go even further to make it "all pretty" if you want to, but that particular area is bound to see sand/silt/grit that the prop churns up off the bottom.
