2022 Yamaha SHO trimming by itself
Got a new boat, 2022 SHO 250. Boats almost 2 months old and today the tilt and trim just started moving on its own. Turned the power switch on in the garage and the motor would trim randomly up and down on its own. The only thing worked to stop it temporarily was to use the button on the motor, blinker trim and throttle switch would not correct the issue, but a few minutes later it would start trimming again. Any suggestions on where to look for the issue? Thanks

Test the three switches to find the problem child.

All 2 switches work, but when it starts, the only switch that can stop/pause the issue is the one on the engine itself. None of the switches look or feel stuck, and the movement isnt constant.

I had this happen once on a Mercury, and the issue was that the boat had been out in a torrential rainstorm, and water got inside the thumb trim on the throttle/control handle and were causing the circuit to complete. I had to disconnect the battery and dry it out. Any chance the boat got very wet recently?

Sounds like the one on the engine is the problem since it stops after operating that switch

Do you have a trim switch up front by the trolling motor?

following with interest.
anyone know if these multiple trim/tilt switches are connected in parallel to each other?

Unless they connect individually to controll module, unlikely! They would have to be in parallel to function. IMO

Just to confirm ... My Phoenix has 4 trim switches - Bow, Gear Handle, Blinker on steering wheel, and the engine itself. If any of these short the motor will move whether or not any power switch on the panel is on or not.
Follow up if you find the problem. Good Luck.
