Question No more xd100 in my area, what should i do?

my evinrude dealer closed this winter, i live in Canada and there are no great online options to get oil delivered where I am. I don't mind paying the big buck for my oil but the extra 40$ shipping just pisses me off lol

Are there any other great oil that i could safely use? If i were to change brand would i have to empty my oil tank of the xd100 remaining in it?

    thanks!

Is your engine programmed to exclusively use the XD-100 or is it set to TC-W3 where you can use any brand of certified outboard oil?

If i could no longer get xd-100 then I would be running Amsoil for my second choice. Maybe Mercury DFI oil would be a good choice?

Merc DFI oil is designed for the Orbital type of direct fuel injection not E-TEC direct injection. It is not TC-W3 certified.
By the question posed by Seahorse, recommend you have the EMM reset for TC-W3 oil. If you cannot get Evinrude oil like XD100 or XD50, then look for quality TC-W3 oil from Merc, pen oil, etc.
Note. Amsoil has a reputation as a good / great oil depending on who you talk to and they appear to back their products. But Amsoil is not certified TC-w3.
Search this site and you will find many discussion on this topic.

With regards to Amsoil not being certified, all that means is they choose not pay a company to say that it meets the minimum standard when they know it far exceeds the minimum requirements.

All of this is true and not in debate.
EV specs call specifically for a TC-W3 oil. If the customer chooses to use a non-certified oil they must then rely on the performance claims made by that manufacturer. Sometimes it is risky. Other times with oil brands like Amsoil the risk is very light.

Can someone please show me on a jug of XD100 where it says its TCW3 certified. BRP does not pay to have it certified, hence why you want find it on the jug. XD100 is great oil and so is Amsoil. When it comes to a two stroke boat motor they would be my top choices and neither one is TCW3 certified ...I ran a small block Ficht over 1000 hours and it was fed Amsoil as soon as the first tank of Evinrude oil got low. I've fed my E-Tec nothing but XD100 since that day it was bought new. I would have ran XD100 in my Ficht but there was no such thing in 1999. Once it was started on Amsoil I just never switched. I have confidence in XD100 and Amsoil when it comes to 2 stroke boat motors.

XD100 is not TC-W3 certified and this is not needed if the oil is used / marketed for the engine for which it is designed. XD100 was designed for Evinrude and is the only oil designed to meet Evinrude warranty when the engine is set in the custom Evinrude reduced oil program.
If Evinrude wanted to market and sell this oil for use in Mercury outboards AND claim it meets the requirements of Mercury warranty, then Evinrude would need to get XD100 certified TC-W3.

We need to be clear on the purpose of the TC-W3 certification. This rating / certification allows the competitive oil market to sell an oil that meets the engine manufacturers warranty requirements. This allows the consumer their choice of lubricant for their engine.

I run XD-100 oil in my chainsaw......it never ran better, no smoke or stalling when you set it down on the ground. FANTASTIC 2 cycle oil IMHO.

Yet Amsoil spent their money to have their 4-stroke outboard oil certified but not their 2-stroke outboard oil. Doesn't that tell you something?

I was fortunate to find XD100 at my local Walmart. It was marked for $49.98 and I bought the two gallons that they had left. I would have bought every gallon they had if they had more, does not look like I will ever pay that amount again, :(.
