Where is a good place to mount the box on a 919??

I mounted mine inside the right rod locker.

Front of right rod locker... used bolts an lock nuts through to center box.

Reminds me of the early Lowrance broadband sonar then side scan days. Eventually, the electronics for those functions were built into new generations of units.

I found some flush mounted nuts I think they are used for furnature. Yes the hole comes through the side but it does not protrude into the compartment. I did cut off the screws so they do not stick out. Very happy with the setup.
