    Lithium Question

2010 Skeeter ZX225. I have two graphs and want to add active sonar along with a Ghost TM. I have wet cell batteries and want to upgrade to lithum. I was told to add three 50 amp and one 125 amp the 125 for cranking on all other needs. I have two power poles. Does this sound right? Hate to buy and then find out it am lacking. I am not a big tourny fisherman but will fish a few. Looking at Ionic. Will add the TM and Garmin down the road. Thanks

If you are heavy footed on the trolling motor, really cover water during spawning season searching for beds, I'd maybe consider going to 100AH for trolling batteries.

The 125 will be more than enough for your cranking and electronic and pole needs.

I would guess with he Ghost motor you would have more than enough capacity with 50AH batteries for the trolling motor. Unless you wanted or needed to do multiple days without charging, then maybe move up to the 100AH batteries. But 50AH should suffice no problem. Takes a LOT of wind and heavy, heavy current and spending a LOT of time on the water to drain the 50's with the Ghost.

That setup sounds about right... I run 3x 50ah lithiums and as mentioned above if you are on the motor A LOT (I mean I was on it for about 12 hours on sturgeon bay) you may run the 50's down... I have seen as low as 35%

So why go the three 12 volt route when you could do 1 36 volt?

One of your 12's takes a dump you can swap in a cheap lead acid until you get a replacement. Your 36 takes a dump and you'll be parking it until you can get a replacement.

Good point about the ghost. I'm sure my ultrex is more current heavy than the ghost/garmin brushless motors.

I just bought 3 50ah for my 721 Pro XP with a ghost. I'd go 3 batteries. If need be you can take a bad one out and run it on 24v. That is the main reason I went 3. I'll be running them hard next week. We will see.

The idea of the single 12V is the way I am going when the present AGM's croak as the Ghost can run just fine on 24V. Also the chargers available for the singles are more available.

I have 2 75AH Miller lithium and ghost. Usually at 80% after one 8 hour day. With the ghost and 75ah I can fish 3 or 4 days before I hit 40 - 50 %. Really happy with lithiums.

I'm running 2 Ionic 50ah on an Ultrex.....used to fish club tx's and never had an issues with not enough BUT i'm not one that will stay on the troller or fish current. I can go on 3 6hr fun trips and have maybe 60% after 3rd trip........So, as for ah's, it all depends on your style of fishing.

You could also go 2 36volt batteries and if one takes a dump, just run one. I have 2 40AH impulse lithiums and have not gotten them below 80% in a full day of fishing with a Ultrex.

    3x50 + 125

That’s the same setup I have.

    Works perfect.

Well first time out with the new setup. Fished for about 7 hours on the river in current and batteries were at 88% when i put her on the trailer. Charged them right up when i got home and the boat didn't catch on fire so i guess i wired them correctly. Very happy customer. Impulse Lithium.

I have (3) 50ah on a loaded down 518L. I fished for 10 hours in a tidal lake in grass and spotlock and in some cases on high to get out of a creek on the TM probably about 1/4 mile.
38% when I got off the water which is the lowest I have seen so far.

Your fishing style sounds a lot like mine. I fish about 1 tournament a year. The rest of the time i just fish. I bought 3 50ah Ionics from Drewtech a few weeks ago and went to St Clair fishing. One of the days I was on the ghost motor hard for about 6 hrs in the wind. The lowest I got the batteries was 77%. The rest of the time I fished 4-6 hrs and it was always still high 80's or in the 90's. I run a Phoenix 721 Pro XP. 3 50's would probably be fine. I would not run 2 50's on 24v.
