    Murph,
I haven't been out, but putting in dock at Blind Bay, I would say temp is in mid 60's, cause it felt like my pond, 13.5' deep. Water level is a major improvement over last yr, but not as high as I thought it would be, and I hope winds are not a PITA.
FIL and family going up for father's day, so I will be chilling out with them.

Have a fun and productive fishing season.
BTW, how warm is Oneida already?

I would say you are looking at mid 60's, since Blind bay is around the corner from Chippewa. My 2C, Cedar Isl and all the little island downstream from it, and same with Oak and all smaller downstream should be good, including Rabbit. there is so many good spots in that area that it is hard to pick 1.
Tight lines to you, and be safe and be blessed with with a 30# bag.

    Hey Murph,
When did you come up Friday or Saturday? Thursday we had a microburst hit, and spent most of the day clearing the road since we had family coming up for father's day on my FIL side. We lost power and didn't get it back til Friday early afternoon. I tell you that I haven't seen crap like that since back 1995, which it hit really hard on the entire region.
Lots of people get hurt on the River cause they don't respect the winds and currents, and localized micro weather event.

Well, I pray that y'all have a very safe summer and lots of tight lines.

We stayed at Dale and Sue's Duck Cove in Hammond, last week. They told us about the mess they had. Their power was out when we pulled in but came on soon after. Caught some 19" Smallmouth and Yellow Perch between 10-13" to take home. Water temps stayed in the mid 60's.

You must have gotten there on Friday, since that is about when we got power back at our cottage in Blind bay. Things improved by later Sat and Sun, especially in the wind department.
BTW, that size perch is very common in Chippewa bay, and Goose.

Fishing was really good in the area from the Cape through A-Bay last week but was PACKED with people. Our top 25 smallmouth averaged 4.68lbs. with the largest being 6.41 (with quite a few 5s) and a bunch of 4s. Countless 3s as well. 3/32oz - 3/16oz maribou hair jigs and drop shot (1/2 - 3/4oz. weights) were the ticket the whole trip.

Today the river in Clayton and Alexandria Bay was 69 degrees.

Thanks for the replies Big-Bass and AJ. I'm surprised the water temp is that high. Other than a couple of days, it really hasn't been hot. Are they still in shallow or did they move out to deeper water ?

I found fish on beds today near Chippawa bay shallow 7-12 feet 69 degrees.
Same last couple of days everywhere else. In my opinion, they didn't move out deep yet.

And after thinking of that, I did see empty beds and we all know they don't always spawn at the same time. I just haven't looked deep as I was doing fine shallow.

Thanks AJ. I have plenty of waypoints deep and shallow, looks like I'll go shallow to start. I get 5 days a year up there and try to make the most of it.

there’s a big population of smallmouth that stay in the 5-15’ depth range year round that most people avoid because the think you have to fish 25-50’ deep and dropshot to catch bass. Spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, swimbaits, ned rigs, in the shallows can be done basically all season long up there. I’m guilty of following the pros tactics and dropshotting out deep with very limited success.
