    I Think It Has Happened…….

Decided to stop by an old stomping ground for a beer and lunch.

I’ve NEVER seen this on this lake or at this spot!

    Gas prices taking affect.

Empty docks and probably 10% of the normal lake traffic.

Way different here. Yesterday the lake was just as crowded as a Labor Day, 4th of July or Memorial Day weekend. This lake is 60-65 miles from a major city too. There recreational traffic was insane all day long.

Crossing the Pit River Bridge on Lake Shasta yesterday, lots of boat traffic. Local gas all above $6.00

I went fishing on Memorial Day weekend and felt like the boat traffic and crazies at the ramp were way down from what I’ve seen before. That’s just a moment in time observation though

Went Friday, no one there, lake was somewhat muddy from Tuesday’s rain, that probably had some effect too.

Our lakes have been uncrowded and very enjoyable without all the drunk and rude tourists!!! Locals here are absolutely loving getting to enjoy our lakes again.

Being retired, I avoid fishing on the weekend, a buddy was out on Beaver yesterday and he said it was insane. Hotter than heck now too which will draw people to the lakes.

I drove past Highport marina on Lake Texoma yesterday, the lot was completely full, trucks and trailers parked all up and down the road in the bar ditches, thought there was a huge bass tourney going on, not, most were wake boats and pontoons.

Fished a BFL on the Potomac yesterday and the most common topic of discussion was gas prices. my boater mentioned 3 times how much he spent in gas to fish a day now and how he was hoping to break even with winnings and the gas money I would give him at the end of the day…

Most of the anglers fishing yesterday said that they aren’t fishing the NY swing of this division. Gas money is keeping the out of state anglers from fishing them. New York BFLs are composed of mostly out of staters too. so I’ll be surprised if they draw more than 90 boats.

Isn't that pretty normal for Florida?!? How does this compare to 2008-2010ish crowd wise?

Looks to me like a cloudy day. In my area, it has to be sunny and very warm to draw out the crowds.

People probably got their credit card statements and realized they can’t spend every weekend like it’s 1999. Usually takes a couple months. But people in the upper Midwest tend to be more conservative (outside of cities) knowing they have to deal with winter.

People have figured out that it’s better to just mail Haus their money.

Saturday was crowded but I have seen very few boats coming by today. I think it has slowed some here or everyone is saving up for Saturday only. Parking lot not half full today. Most of the party goers are here on Saturday only now where Sunday has traditionally been just as busy. I think regular fishing boats have slowed. Partly due to warm weather and maybe the cost of fuel. Not positive about it though. Party boat trailers outnumbered fishing boat trailers 10-1 yesterday.
