I have a 2011 with 212k miles and rising. Coil packs, a few sets of plugs, and a water pump is the only thing that has been done to mine. I would not hesitate to purchase another and I certainly will once this one lays down on me. Watch the Mike Rowe Torture Test if you are on the fence!

I personally know of a 3.5 ecoboost that his buddy “changed “ his oil for him and forgot to put the new oil in it.... the man drove to the coast got his boat once there and pulled to 3x to ramp over that week and then drove home..... check engine lite came on so he went and had it checked out...... discovered no oil so they changed it and never had a problem afterwards

So he drove the engine over 100 miles with no oil in it and no issues?

I put 210k miles on my 2013 eco boost. And was still pulling as strong as when new when I traded in last month for a F250 Tremor

2012 3.5 ecoboast with 165k miles. It has been a great motor. Milage pulling 8000 lb camper is about 8mpg. Pulling a small boat I get around 12. Daily mixed driving I get just a little under 15. Those are my real world numbers and I pretty much drive the speed limit. It is a 4x4 crew cab with stock tires and I run gas from all the common sources. 7-11, Bjs, wawa... I am seeing some electrical issues pop up, but the motor runs great.

Don’t let the gas mileage fool you. Under load, they are all very similar and normal driving simply varies by how heavy of a foot you have.
I am going to disagree with the gas mileage part.... I went from a 3.5 EB w/ 6sp, to a 5.0 w/ 6sp and both trucks had the same rear gear. 5.0 gets 3-4 points better towing the boat under same conditions than the EB did. And my 5.0 gets maybe 1 point worse with normal driving.

    Your results may vary

This is pretty much what I get also. Computer says 14.1 for daily in town driving and around 12 pulling 20’ aluminum boat. I do have slightly larger tires and a camper shell.

That one is odd....I wonder what components are missing? Sounds like they'll be back later in 22 or 23.

You cannot beat the twin turbocharged V6's. I loved my ecoboost 3.5 and now love my Tundra with 3.5TT.

2017 Expedition with the 3.5 EB & 6 speed trans. I got it with 48K on the clock and I've put another 40K on it. No issues with the engine and drive train other than the front shocks had to be replaced. I am religious about changing oil and maintenance and it runs just as good now as when I got it. Very fun drive, acceleration is really good for a 6000 pound vehicle, it will smoke the tires if I turn off the traction control. The new ones are even better since they added port injection along with the direct injection to the gen 2 EB engine, less carbon buildup.

Plus the sound of the turbos spooling up is like music!

Go drive a 6.2 GM with a 10 speed before making your decision.

Just curious, which will last the longest or have the best reliability, without a major overhaul, the 5.0 V8 or the 3.5 V6 EB ? To me reliability is way more important than mileage or heavy duty towing.

Only reason to think of as far as why not is that everyone seams to have one and maybe you want to be different. Of course that could also be a reason to get one. There are many around for a reason. I had a first gen in 2011. It was one of the first the dealership got in. It was fantastic and so was my 2014. Now my work truck has one with the 10 speed and it is awesome.

I am on my third Eco. The second had a short life when a semi got up close and personal. But I love mine.
