    Tracker Pro 175

I am currently in the market for probably a Pro 175. I am finding a lot of 50 hp 2 strokes and a few 60 hp 4 strokes and a couple 75 hp Optimax. Having owned a 60 hp 4 stroke I know they are very fuel efficient. I’m guessing the 50 hp 2 stroke not so much. I think both of these motors are boarder line adequate power even though I have outgrown the “need for speed”. My question is wouldn’t the 75 hp Optimax running at say half throttle be comparable in fuel usage as the other two running close to wide open?

I've owned several Trackers, I've had 40 hp 2S, 50 hp 2S, 25 hp 2S, and 75 hp 4S..I have never owned one with 60 nor an Optimax.
    I would go with the 75 hp 4S if you can find one. I currently own a 75 hp 2S on a 94 Pro18.
Either way, I think you'll be happier with a 75.

IMO the 60 would be adequate, the 75 much better for a little more money. No way would I get a 50 on that boat.

Get the 75 HP motor at least for sure, the 50 and 60 are both underpowered for that size boat. I have a 90 Optimax on mine and it is a great motor that performs better than the new 4 strokes. Also yes, a 75hp running part throttle at 35 MPH would use less fuel than a 60 running wide open at that speed.

Not sure what the difference is between the Pro 175 and the 175 TXW I own but I have the 60 and love it. It will do 35mph with me by myself and 32MPH with 2 people, loaded with fishing gear and 34-full tank of gas. I did put a splitfire 4 blade prop on it which helped tremendously to get that performance. And Yes, It SIPS gas. For the extra 5-8 mph in speed, the extra cost of the bigger motor and worse Fuel economy, I wasn't worth it for me as a recreational fisherman. If I was doing tourneys or something, I might have leaned more that way. The 60HP 4 stroke is a great engine for the 175txw and would think for similar size and hull shapes.

I go a 21 with a 60hp. There a 110lb difference between the 75 and 60. If i decide to and tallons and switch to lithium im still lighter then the 75.

No one has ever got the bigger motor and regretted it but plenty of people with the 60 wish they had a 75 or larger, just saying. There is no advantage to under powering a boat other than lower initial cost. Weight isn't an issue either, I have a 90 on mine with a 6" jack plate, 3 batteries and one 8 foot power pole, getting ready to add a second one. I weigh 200 lbs and I often fish with 2 other people who weigh over 250 lbs, the boat handles all that weight without any problems.

For sure get the 75hp if you can. The 60 will still get you around just fine but the 75hp is one of those things you pay extra for without thinking about it knowing it's the best choice (providing it's not a year the hull was rated for a 90 and only saying this to keep bassfisher444 off my ass, lol). I do know that on the older 175 the 50hp 2-stroke was a common option. Not saying it was a good option but that's how a lot of them seemed to have been rigged. I've seen the newer 175 rigged with a 40hp and the owners I've talked to have always regretted it.

One other thing to keep in mind is on the 4-strokes the 60hp is made in China. The 75hp is made in Wisconsin. Big selling point right there by itself.
