Good Enough or try for more? I know you prop experts will know.

1993 BassCat PII with 2017 200 SHO running a T-1 25. Max speed by myself if water is right, 71.5 GPS. Gets out of the hole quick 2 to 3 seconds. The max rpm at that speed is right at 5500. My old 2 stroke turned about 6200, same speed but a lot slower out of the hole. I do have a manual 8" jack plate and I think the prop to pad is close to 3.5" last time I check and haven't moved it.

It seems weird to me I can't get RPM closer to 6000, I can get the rpm a little higher than 5500, not much but loose speed.

If I wanted more speed and rpm could I even attain it, especially with a prop change?

I would verify p2p, then start experimenting with it in 1/4" increments before changing props.

    I’d also verify tach accuracy.

A few years back upgraded the dash to the newer style with new gauges so just going by that.

I would want to get the SHO to 6000 VERIFIED rpms with the pitch prop it takes to do that at a PTP height that did not indicate slip. Hint rooster tail should not be higher than top of cowl at top speed.

Being a owner of a sho you are to low for that prop and that motor . My Basscat sho combo runs best at 2” to 1.5 center of prop shaft to pad . Sho motor needs to run higher than a merc due to the lower unit is a drag at low settings . Plus your prop is 15” in dia . Go higher and you will see it improve. As long as your prop is in good shape .
