That entire area is nothing but open water. Guess they left some of those pesky reeds and Kissimmee grass that they’ll now get rid of.

They will soon ask for volunteers to replant.

"Herbicides used will include: ProcellaCOR, Flumioxazin, 2,4-D, Imazapyr, Diquat and Glyphosate."

We have failed as a species, there's not a doubt in my mind we're going to kill ourselves with toxins & pollutants.
The "friendliest" stuff on the entire list is Glyphosate (RoundUp). Amazing they actually believe this is acceptable.

I believe they know how dangerous these chemicals are but the $ has taken priority over the reality.

This is bull Sh!+! The place is already void of vegetation. Pelican Bay is almost a desert already. WTH! I can't find clean water.

And now we see why my lake place and boat were liquidated a few years ago.
It's 100% useless to fight these clowns. Florida is done, over and kaput now.

Have they asked for volunteers to plant more grass yet?

Yes, on the St. John’s, lake George. All met two weeks ago at the south end of George to “replant”. Ugh

Based upon what is being said here ... Okeechobee is currently a lost cause, void of underwater vegetation.

Is it down or is it truly absent period?

Need an honest appraisal not based upon emotions...

    Many thanks.

There’s still some grass but further back in the littoral zones. Not enough to clean the water so the algae blooms will be obscene. There’s still a huge fish population but the lake fishes small because when the bass want cover, it’s limited. Add to this the contestant excessively high water and eventually they’ll kill this lake. They haven’t yet, but it’s coming if we don’t force a change.

There are areas with vegetation growing just not what it used to be. The monkey box on the north end is a desert. The vast fields of Lilly pads, hydrilla and grass are all but gone. But just around the corner at whiddens pass has some. Lots of areas are like this. There are small areas of emerging vegetation that people find, making the huge lake fish small now. Guides and locals who fish it alot have it dialed in untill the spray boats show up and destroy the areas. There are still fish, just a fraction of what it used to be.
