    Rim size

    How know rims and tires.
My Chevy Subarban has ...16 inch rims on it.
Plans on going with some 17 inch rims.
Will they , they threw my speed-o- meter off. And if so how much.

Not sure if serious, but the rim size won’t matter. It will be the overall tire circumference that will matter.

Tell me what the stock tire size is and I can calculate the closest on a 17” wheel.
Or you can do it yourself.
    example: 235/45/16 is 235mm wide x 45% or .45 = sidewall height.
    235 x.45= 105.75
    105.75 x 2=211.5
    211.5mm in inches = 8.33”
    8.33+16= 24.33” tire height.
Now figure your tire for a 17” wheel.

Keep in mind going with a larger wheel will reduce you side wall if you’re trying to keep the overall height the same and could affect ride quality.

I did just what you're proposing. Tire height was 1" higher overall which only adds 1/2" to the ride height. No difference in my speedometer that I can tell. It you do the math, I'm sure the results will say that the speed registering will change, but from experience I can tell you that it's very negligible. Now if you go wild on your aspect ratio, things could change noticeably.

Go to Tire Rack.com. Choose the tire size that is currently on your vehicle. Choose a tire that you think you would like to run. Then go to the spec page for that tire. Look for a 17 inch tire that is the same circumference or just larger than what your current tire is.

I swap between my stock 20's in the winter to aftermarket 24's in the summer. Overall diameter is very close to the same. But low profile tires on the 24's. My speedo doesnt change. And thats an extreme example. 1 inch difference on rim size wont make a noticeable change. But if you're spending the money on new rims, why not go with 22's? It will completely change the look and profile of your suburban. Would look great. But.. Im kind of a rim freak. Lol

I changed from stock wheels to 35's on my 350. When I drive by those radar things that show your speed its dang near spot on. I drive pretty slow anyways so im not really worried but I doubt it will be much.

You're only adding a half inch each way. I wouldnt worry about it.
