I don't throw a lot of hard baits, but I seem to have a little better success on perch or bluegill pattern cranks. A lot of our norther lakes have good populations of perch and bluegills.

I crank alot of offshore structure/cover. Powder blue back chartreuse in a 10/8/6/5Xd is about all I've bought for the past ten years or so. Bet I have 5 dozen or so in the boat. Only other color deep cranks I have are older than that 10 or so years.
