    Compass calibration

For panoptix do you need to recalibrate the compass after u change from perspective back to forward or down or vice versa? My buddy said he was reading on Facebook it was recommended? That sounds pretty wonky.

    thanks!

Not sure how changing from one viewing mode to another could have any effect whatsoever on compass calibration.

Yes, if you change to Perspective mode and back to forward, you need to recalibrate it. Calibration is used/needed if you plan on marking waypoints in forward or down view......

When changing to Perspective Mode, the AHRS system has to be automatically reset. This is why the calibration is wiped out when changing to this mode.

really. that is crazy. why does it need to be done again?

so what about between forward and down or vise versa? or is it only from perspective to forward and down?

that really sucks. we fish alot of places where we would be shallow and then into deeper water where perspective would not work.

any suggestions from you guys who use it regularly re perspective vs forward modes? is. there a cut off for how deep u can use perspective vs forward.

Relative to switching from Forward to Down, the calibration is not wiped out but you can only have one mode calibrated at a time. So if calibrated in Forward, if you switch it to Down it is uncalibrated in that mode.
When changing back to Forward, calibration is retained.
