If my Mercury 250 XB blew up on the next trip to Chequamegon Bay, I'd cry over it and regret losing it since it's well out of warranty, but I can't replace any of my second cousins, so I'll choose them over my beloved outboard.

I got tons of cousins, just got one outboard motor.
So I might sound like an idiot but what exactly is considered a second cousin? I always thought your first cousins kid was your second cousin but someone told me I was wrong.
I see my outboard every week. I haven't seen any of my cousins in 10+ years.
