Question Crankbait rod 5-8 ft and 10-15 ft? Suggestions.

Need a few cb rods for med to deep. Price range up to 250.00. Any suggestions for Powell or Dobyns? Loooking for a rod that i can sling larger crankbaits. Thanks.

For the shallow ones the Endurance 724cb would work well. If you want something stiffer a 725cb. Deeper cranks, I use a 7104cb. Could also use a Max 754cb. Both these rods a little strained when you get to 1oz. For heavier the Max 795cb is a little stiffer but is a composite cranking rod.

The Dobyns 704 and 705 would cover those depths (everybody should own these 2)
I like the Champion Series (Buy them on sale) and go with the composite untill you find out what you like
704 is a med, I use it for jerk baits and it covers the 5-8' baits
    705 is a med Hvy, I throw DT-10 to DT16 or SK 4's and 5's on it
Both are 7' long, great warrenty and craftsmans ship on the rods and they come in Full cork grips

    Powell makes some great rods
Gary Dobyns worked there on there crank rods before starting Dobyns
I'd look at the Endurance or Max series

And then there's glass rods. Lol

They are great rods for sure. Good for top waters too.

    Concur...

They're toward the upper end of your stated budget, but are usually discounted by 15-20% (or more) several times a year.

Don't let the "Glass" turn you away... These rods are in no way "clunky"... they have a great combination of tip & backbone; they're light, sensitive and will handle baits running at the depths you stated in fine fashion.

Love my 705... It also makes a very good lipless and squarebill rod.

DC 705CB GLASS - Dobyns Rods

You also mentioned "larger" crankbaits; I throw the bigger stuff (8/10XD, etc.) on an 805 in the same series...

Dobyns champ 736cb.... also the best chatterbait rod I've used, especially on big FL bass. I have 2 rigged every time I hit the lake.

Dobyns Champion 704 CB Glass is my favorite lightweight crankin rod. Not good on heavier deeper cranks. I use it's brothers 705 and 735 respectively.

For bandit 200/300 and dt4/6/8 the Powell diesel cb rod is cheap and very nice.

Dobyn’s Champion XP 804 or 805, your preference to how stiff of a rod you like to throw. I can throw 15’ deep divers all day long.

+1. I own that one as well and bought it specifically for chatterbaits. Best part about that rod is, even though it's glass you can still skip a chatterbait with it, and don't even know it's a glass rod until it loads up - which is what you want.

I also started using it this year to throw a MagDraft and it does great for that as well!

The 805rmcb is the only crank rod that I own 2 of them
Amazing rod, Heard it was for a DD22. But it's perfect for DT16, Dt20's and the SK 5's or 6's
It will not wear you out throwing deep divers

    I have 2 Doybns 705 graphite and a 736 glass. I can't imagine any use for a 704.

704 works for smaller cranks and you would think it's to long for Jerk baits, But it's perfect for me

Alot of people like it for JB's. Just a bit too soft for me for JB's but a great CB rod.
