    Casting distance

So I set up 3 different rods and reels yesterday with braid. 3 different reels and 3 different baits. A snag proof frog on one rod/reel, a R2S frog on another and lastly a light weighted hook with a creature bait. I could only get about 100’ on any of these three. Is this normal or should I be able to get more distance? I set the brakes just to the point where the spool will start to overrun then back off a tad. First reel is a Tatula 200, 2nd reel carbon lite 2.0, 3rd reel Pro Qualifier 2.

What size braid? Action of rod? Weight of lure? Rod length all factors when casting.

Most frogs, if not weighted, don't necessarily cast great. 100ft isn't a terrible cast.

100' isn't bad with braid IMO. Especially if it's 50# or more.

One reel has 30# Berkeley crystal and the weighted hook with creature

    another has 80lb power pro.

I just put the lines on the reels yesterday and was casting on the side of my yard dialing them in for casting and pitching.

Ruined the R2S frog “ The rubber strings don’t like concrete and black top “

ill get more specifc with rods in a minute.

Seems like good casts to me. I don't think a normal cast in my past use to be 90' without braid.

The heavier the line, the worse the casting distance will be. Why are you throwing 80# braid?

Let more line out when rod loading and for me a fast tip works best.

Stiff heavy rods do not cast well.

Under the impression that if and when I hook into a fish of a life time i won't loose it when it gets tangled up in the weeds etc.

Another issue I see in terms of maximum casting distance in those tests is that the braid [which is too heavy] is also brand new. New braid is less flexible until it gets worn in a bit, and that lack of flexibility slows it down coming off the reel spool.

If you can get 100' cast, you're doing good. IMO

I am always watching different tips and trick videos trying to soak up as much as possible. Lately i see a trend of fishers claiming to use braid for all fishing with a short liter at the bait end. The reasoning is said that braid is more sensative and will telegraph the feel of bites better. Always wanting to learn as much as possible.

Thank you. That is essentially 33 yards. I was under the impression 50 yards or 150 foot is a good cast.
