    Info Appreciated!

So yesterday while getting ready to put my boat in the garage my mother backed into the side of my boat. It appears the damage is cosmetic to the boat. But it did hit it hard enough to bend the stand the winch mounts to and the boat is not setting correctly on the trailer. I am waiting to call the dealer where the boat was purchased as I really want it checked out by people that know boats. We have talked with the insurance company, as we both use the same, and hope to have estimates by mid week. Anyone ever been through something like this? Any suggestions on dealing with such?

If your mother was driving the vehicle, she would be considered at fault and her Insurance policy will take care of all the damages. If you go through your insurance company they will handle the claim, but will submit subrogation papers to recover the money from your mothers insurance policy. One last option is to pay cash and not use insurance.
In addition, if the impact bent the winch tongue, I would be worried about the side support that you cannot see behind the fiberglass.

Just because the dealer sold the boat doesn’t mean they can verify types of damage….

Then who in central NC could do a thorough job of inspecting the boat?

Not sure myself but a guy down the road from me had his Nitro knocked completely off the trailer while turning into his driveway about a year ago by a illegal driving a big work truck. The boat sat o the ground next to his driveway for months while he haggled with the insurance company over getting “X-rays” done to see if there was any “fractures” in the hull. Not sure how it turned out or if this is all the facts. Second hand info and could not be totally correct.

There is a very good shop in Statesville. I am working on getting the contact info. My buddy had his repaired and they did find additional hidden damage while doing the repairs
