Coming to Murray

Hello everyone, a buddy of mine an I will be coming to fish Lake Murray the week following Memorial Day. We have a friend in Lexington and will be staying at their place. This will be my first time dealing with blueback herring, so hopefully we won't be completely befuddled. Is there decent fishing in the south end of the lake where we'll be staying or are we going to need to run up the river or into other areas of the lake? I'm not looking to steal any secrets, just trying to get a feel as to what to expect and whether I need to stock up on any certain tackle before getting there - if there are any excellent tackle shops in the area, that would be really helpful to know as well. Thanks in advance for any advice!

What are you fishing for, strippers or LM? Palmetto State Armory has a pretty decent tackle store, off of IH 26, around exit 104 and Sportmans Warehouse is just up the street from PSA.
