    Zero Turn Mower Recommendations

Going to be mowing approx 4 1/2 acres of flat property. Thinking of a commercial level mower with 61" deck . I'm leaning towards Bobcat or Bad Boy models but like to have some imput from those that have / used a ZT mower. Thanks

I recently bought the 54" Spartan. Im only at 16 hrs but so far so good. I had a buddy with a Bad Boy who was so irritated with his that he just loaded up it up and gave it back to them . He was pissed.

Exmark Lazer Z. I cut just slightly more than you are and I have no regrets on my purchase. Awesome machine. Notice most professional landscaping companies use them? There is a good reason it.

With that much, get a commercial for sure. I don't have a commercial JD, but on my 15 yr old ztr I have replaced a couple of deck wheels and just now a front wheel bearing.

BadBoy Rebel with 36hp Kawasaki is a beast. Rarely have I run it wide open. Have 61”, with the terrain I have 72 would have been too much. With what we were paying for a lawn service, will take about 3 years to get ahead.

for proper blade speed mowers are designed to run WOT.

We have a Bobcat Predator pro (Kawi and 61") that was great for about 6 years, and now sits in the barn as our backup. Steering mechanism seldom stays in tune, frequently needs re-adjustment. And is far more herky-jerky than it should be. We have had 4 commercial zero turns, and I would say its the worst of the bunch.

Anything commercial grade used by a homeowner should be fine. See which one has a better warranty, what type of wheel motors they use, serviceable parts etc. Alot depends on your area and dealers near you. If you treat it with care and take care of it you will probably be able to get a long time out of it. Just dont buy a Ferris mower....

As said above most mowers actually need to be run WOT to get blade speed to optimum cutting potential. It is less strain on engine to cut this way.

Exmark is my recommendation. I've also run the 900 series John Deere mowers and they are great machines as well. My ExMark Lazer Z cuts better than any mower than I've seen.
