    Vacuum Sealers

While reading the post on freezing brisket, vac sealer came up a lot.
So, recommendations will be greatly welcome...and, are the bags the same?

    TIA, of course

p.s. heading to Dripping in a couple of days...smoking will be done!

Somebody recommended Ceryon to me. I bought one and I’m using it, but I certainly do not recommend it, in fact I would recommend not buying one.

I process all our meat. Whether venison beef pork or chicken, I either kill and butcher or buy bulk and save hundreds. I use a chamber sealer. Pricey for the occasional, but worth every penny. https://avidarmor.com/avid-armor-ult...sealer-system/

What vacuum sealer is large enough to handle a full brisket?

Hey neighbor! I bought some bags for my Foodsaver on Amazon. They're doubtless made in China, and might contain some dread chemical, but they work fine. I have sealed racks of baby back ribs in them.

What are the major differences between a standard Foodsaver vacuum sealer and and the Avid Armor unit?

You can’t do liquids with a vacuum sealer. The Avid pumps to four atmospheres before sealing. This leaves the inside completely void of air.

My original plan was to replace my FoodSaver with an Avid Armor chamber unit. But, the fact they limit the size (length) of the foods I can seal I've decided on the Avid Armor A420. I like to seal whole racks of pro and beef ribs, and whole Salmon fillets.
The only recurring complaint about this unit is an issue with the seal gasket and compression problems when the unit is stored closed. I spoke with AA CS about this issue. They are actively working to resolve the problem with a new gasket material and design. The A420 is supposed to be a more versatile version of their A100 unit. They'll want to resolve any widely reported issues. Other complaints are more about ergonomics and not build quality or performance.
It's my top choice at the moment.

Update: I spoke with Avid Armor CS this week. They stated the gasket issue with the A420 has been resolved.
The sealing gasket has been re-engineered.

Good to know. I haven’t had issues with mine yet, but will keep an eye out.

Another vote for the AA chamber vac. Mrs. Easy gifted me one for our anniversary and it is super. The chamber does have some size limitations so I hung on to my Food Saver 4800. It is a good unit, I worked my way through three other Food Saver units and they were all nice when they worked. The first one I bought was the cheapest model and it didn’t last very long. The other two were good I just had opportunities to upgrade over the years. The one thing I’m not a fan of with the suction type is that sometimes the seal on the bags fail or the bags develop hole from being moved around in the freezer.
