Putting Cats Down - Waiting for Vet Sucks

Vet will be here this evening to put down 2 cats. Princess is a 20 yo bobcat mix, been an outdoor cat her whole life but her health has gone down the last few weeks. Dave was a stray Tuxedo who made our house his 11 years ago. Declawed but didn't know it and preferred to be inside.. Both would sit on my lap for hours. Guess I am a cat person after all. Wish he would get here already to get it over with.

So sorry you are going through this. We put down a 10 year old great Dane back in September. Then 5 weeks later we had to put down our other 10 year old Dane AND our 17 year old black lab on the same day.
That was very hard to do.
Just keep them alive in all your memories.

Sorry for your loss. I have a cat that I didn't want and now I couldn't imagine not having him.

So sorry to hear about your pets. All dogs go to Heaven, there must be cats there to run from them and scratch their noses if they get too close.

It is tough to have to do what you are doing. I had to take our cat of 16 years on his last ride a couple of months ago. I didn't realize that I was a cat person until he was gone.

I’m so sorry. Our pets are so special. In my opinion, the ONLY bad thing about having a pet of ANY kind is the day that you have to say goodbye to them!!

Well, they got a one night reprieve. Vet had a family emergency, so I guess Dave will get extra cans of food, with extra gravy which he loves to lick, and Princess will get a bunch more Temptations. My wife has been on a bit of a roller coaster with all this today, but is doing well. Thanks for all the comments, unfortunately we know our long coated retriever is not far behind.
