Update - I was too concerned with switching away from opti oil so I went ahead and ordered another case direct from Mercury. I open the box to find the jugs are dated 2018. This after Mercury tells me the shelf life is only one year, others say 3 and they are selling oil that is 4 years old.

I have not used any to determine if it has the same gelling issues.

You do realize that Mercury doesn't ship parts and accessories direct to consumers... it comes through DEALERS, right?
