    New tin rig....

Added a new rig to my repertoire....gonna use it for some small waters, skinny waters, etc....and allow my son to take it out when I can't go, as long as he has somebody with him....

    Wut?

No way in hell you're dragging that over those shoals. Even if you could, It would destroy that boat.

After looking at it again you are correct. Dad and I had use a 14’ with a 9hp and it was a challenge at times.

There's definitely a place for that rig. Maybe Hurricane or Maumelle. I guess Hurricane is still around. What about the Saline River?

I can tell you have never been on maumelle when the wind blows, very dangerous place.

As for hurricane, it is super private now. Been that way a long time.

Actually, I've fished Maumelle a lot back when I lived in Benton. Fished out of an 18' Procraft with 150 Johnson on the back. But that was a hundred years ago. Didn't know Hurricane was private. A lot has changed since I left there for greener pastures in 1987.

Sucks that Hurricane is private. Maumelle is fine for the majority of days. Only when the wind blows crazy does it get real bad. Been on it numerous times.

It is now. I have caught several 8+ out of there.
I personally know of 3 over 10lbs that came out of there.
Back in the day that thing was crystal clear and full of moss. It has a bunch of steep drops out by the islands that fell off into 20ft of water. It was topwater heaven, nothing to go catch 15-20 nice fish in the evening after getting off work. I miss it.

Got to give a shout out to the retards at benton parks and rec!!!!!!
    Thanks a lot you *******s.

I fish Maumelle 1-3 days a week. I wouldn't call it "dangerous" but you have to respect that lake and check the wind direction and speed before you go. Wind DIRECTION is most important with how it funnels through the mountains. To be honest it takes a lot to scare me but some lakes will make you a good boat driver in a hurry.

The way it looks, I'll be taking this down to Dumas this weekend for my Anvil Jaw derby, as my Nitro is in the shop. Be a good rig for Dumas anyway.

That's not much boat for the way that river is running right now.

It'll be fine...people fish out of much less. I'll be way back in the back of merrisach all day minus the run down there.

That is a great rig for fishing water you don't want to subject the pretty glass sled to. My buddy just pulled his dad's Alweld with a 40hp from Paron to his house in Benton to get it going again so he can fish more sketchy water. Plus he's waiting on parts for the Optipop on his Champion (fuel rail plungers I think). Also just put in carbon fiber reeds after a steel reed chipped away and somehow didn't trash the cylinder or rings. And with fuel prices the way they are now these smaller rigs can be a blessing. That reminds me...all this rain we've gotten I'm sure there's an abundance of random junk floating around.
