New Gillespie Lake Worth the drive?

Hey Guys,

Was thinking about trying out New Gillespie Lake. Have never been. Live in St Louis now. Is it worth the drive?

I don’t know much. Our club fished it a year ago (I think… the past two years blend together ). I couldn’t make it. I think only 6ish boats went down. Pretty sure It was mid summer. They caught fish, nothing spectacular. It’s close enough to you, it would be worth a try. Best of luck, and let us know what you find

I’ve done well there with both numbers and size but it’s been a handful of years ago. Look at Lou Yeager on the other side of the interstate as it would be my choice of the two

Its been at least 10 years ago since I fished there. Really good bottom structure and there was a tremendous amount of weed growth. We didn't fare well, only caught a couple dinks but I could see where the lake held some big fish.
