What caused this?? 2020 Ranger 520L

Had 8gallons of gas in it when I bought it. I added 46 gallons of non ethanol and storage dose of evinrude 4+2 treatment. Ran 29g and had to be towed in due to fuel restriction. Mechanic found main filter clogged. Tank is loaded with this. Hard like rock salt. Mechanic said ethanol was cause. Not under warranty as is a maintenance issue. This is just 1/8 of what is in there. Only a 2 inch hole to work through.
Using battery operated pump. Chunks clog head so the rag is to bang them out.

I'd go to the station where you got the fuel and get them to check their filters. That looks like a reaction with something in the filters. Some filters have stuff ln them to absorb water. If the filter ruptures the stuff is pumped in fuel tanks.

Change the filter from your flux capacitor to motor. Sometimes the vibrations caused by the temporal distortion of time travel will allow the fuel to crystallize, thus not allowing you to reach 88 mph and blow the fuel system out...

Bad time of year to have a boat down though!

See if you can find the old thread in the Triton Group where people had the low permeation liner that is applied to the inside of fuel tank break down it looked like loose salt or sand inside of the tank. It wasn't blue looking like that it's more of a tan / opaque color but if this were the culprit the fuel treatment you put in could have stained the material. Just a thought... be sure the mechanic finds a way to check the integrity of the tank liner before putting new fuel in it.

Looks like desiccant. Some of those start off blue when new and change to pink when saturated with water. There might be a desiccant breather on the fuel tank vent and maybe it is broken.

I’ve heard of inside linings of hoses breaking down like that due to ethanol.

That looks kinda like copper sulfate which is used as an algae control in ponds. It is not fuel soluble and looks like that unless water present. If it is then next question is "how the heck" but I would guess you had some bad gas with water that had some copper sulfate dissolved and the Evinrude fuel treatment made it precipitate out and caught in the filter.

since early 2000's all fuel hose is rated for alcohol

Not a cost effective solution but analysis of those deposits could be related to fuel additives. Just speculation.

I would call the previous owner and tell him what happened. Maybe he can shed some light on this. Was the filter the original one or did you just change it. Someone could have put something in the tank before you bought the boat. Those crystals appear to be the same color as the fuel treatment you used. You never know about todays gas. Good luck to you and hopefully you find out where this stuff come from.
