I have a Kast King Zephyr that I paired with a 6’ 8” Rainshadow 2 power rod that I built. Use it for a 1/8 shakey with 6 pound line. I love it. The reason I went to bait casting was the wear and tear on my right elbow with spinning rods. So much more comfortable using a bait caster. It will also cast a mile even into the wind
After going almost exclusively to spinning equipment unless fishing Mexico I recently picked up a tatula bc that was advertised as a great pick for throwing lightweight baits. I paired it with a 6'10" g loomis lightweight rod and I'm sold. Casts further and easier on my bad shoulder and I'm considering getting another.

Phenix feather light and curado bfs. I am still amazed at how effortless it will throw a light bait.
Phenix ML & Shimano Aldebaran 8# line is my setup.
been down that road....the skip-ability with a spinning rod that doesn't come with any backlash issues of trying to skip a ned under trees, cables, docks... just makes it a bad idea to go down a baitcast/ned path... unless of course you are fishing it in areas that are not above water snags/obstacles in your casting
Good luck.. let us know what you pick
I built a BFS combo around a Bushido 6'-9" ML-XF blank. I put titanium guides on it and strapped on a Daiwa Alphas SV 105 JDM reel, 8lb braid to 6lb leader. I can cast 1/16th oz crappie baits easily with it, and can pitch baits down to 1/32. Casting a 1/32 is still a bit of a challenge. Works amazing for small jerk baits like #4 and #6 Rapala X-Raps, awesome for ultralight Rippin Raps. I fish crappies with it running those baits, and then double it down for an ultralight Texas rig rod, could easily detect bites 80 feet out in a 20 mph wind with a 1/16oz t-rig. The whole combo is incredibly light, just an absolute joy to throw light baits.
No I don't think it was the rod. Again, just never seen someone flipping such light lures on such light baitcasting gear. I am aware of the whole BFS thing and it was just really interesting to watch first hand. I know a lot of western clear water guys finesse fish with lures that light. Just thought the whole thing was kinda cool and was enlightening for a new technique is all.
