    Ultralight baitcasters for Ned Rigs?

Anyone using an ultra lite baitcasting set up for Ned Rig fishing. Fished with a guy yesterday who cleaned my clock throwing a 1/32 ned rig on a baitcaster. Does anyone do this and what if any rod would your recommend. It was a sound enough beating and a good enough reason to start to inquire about and possibly get yet ANOTHER rod.

What plastic was on the ned rig? I'll guess the whole thing weighed 1/8 to 3/16. I use a Megabass P5 Bait Finesse for throwing a small swimbait that comes in at about 3/16 but the Megabass Kasumi Six Eleven intrigues me for this application and I might pick one up next time I'm within a 100 miles of The Tackle Trap.

While not a popular brand on BBC I have one of these that I really like for my bfs setup.

Carrot Stix CASTING 7' LIGHT Wild Orange Lite Fishing Rod CLWX701L-F-C

    I got mine here:

Not on Ned but I fish 3/16 shakey head on a shimano e50 bait caster on a gloomis 822 SH rod. I assume I could do the same with the Ned.

I have a few spinning rods for the Ned rig . On baitcaster i just use a Lew's Laser pistor grip rod in a 6' 0 Med and 7'0 Med rod ,it does just fine for me. I also use it for my Crappie fishing also .

For really lite lures I have great luck slinging with a BPS Carbonlite 7' in medium-lite and a Curado 150 mgl. There's a smaller version of Curado that specs for 8# line I think that's probably even better at getting very little weight out there IF you can find one. Everyone is gonna have a different setup that they like for what they're doing and I just gave my opinion. I'm also using mostly Curado reels and Carbonlite rods so there's that, lol.

Wouldn't the same bait on a spinning reel catch fish too?

But BFS is the new cool thing to do. I’ll stick with my fairy wands for finesse applications.

Some of us have too much testosterone in us to do something like that.

I throw ned rigs on a St. Croix 6'9" Medium light Legend Xtreme with a Revo ALX baitcaster with either 8 or 10# tatsu with great results. 1/8 oz shakey heads on a 6'8" Legend Xtreme medium x-fast with a Revo Alx baitcaster usually with 10# tatsu. Works better for me than any of my spinning rigs that usually stay home.

Say what you want but I prefer all my setups to have the same type of feel to them ( I suck at spinning rod casting accuracy) but that's just my preference. Really enjoy my bfs setups but to each there own. It's more about confidence in putting that bait where I want too.

You honestly think it was the rod? Esp a since it was a baitcaster for finesse? I guarantee it was his bait or technique and not the rod. You could have had the same rod and he probably still would have out fished you. Sometimes that’s just the way it is. He was moving, or not moving the bait just a little bit differently than you causing more bites. But hey, get another rod if that gives you some confidence. My spin outfits are so sensitive for finesse techniques that if a fish sniffs it I know it. Lol.

Shimano cumara 7'6" ml/ mf rod & core 50mg7 w/abec7 spool bearings. Mostly use 1/20 or 1/16 weighted heads.
