    Trailer Breaks

It seems that my trailer brakes on my trailer are not working properly, when I apply the brakes the trailer freely slides forward and when I take off from a stop you can hear the thud as the tongue slides back out. I have never had to work on the brakes before. How does one service the break system on the trailer.

Bleed them , I am assuming they are disc. If drum they need to be adjusted.

If bleeding doesn’t work you may have to replace the actuator.

You might start by checking the brake fluid in the master cylinder (inside the tongue of the trailer, remove the black cap on top of the tongue near the coupler), sound like it could be low, allowing air to get into the system.

Mine was doing the same thing, I replaced the master cylinder and while I was in there I went ahead and replaced the shock absorber while I had it apart. It wasn't too expensive to do.
