    2003 TR20 with 225efi

I am looking at purchasing this boat. I haven’t ran it yet as it’s getting serviced. But I’m curious what to expect as far as speed and over all performance of the boat. It currently has a 25p tempest plus with a manual plate. Any info y’all can provide would be great. Thanks

I would think it should run near 70 with the 25 tempest.

Should run 70+, but you will need to be able to drive it to get the last few MPH's. The 3 liter EFI's are\were good, dependable engines, but do like gas more than the comparable Optimax. If everything checks out OK, will make you a good fishin' boat.

I have a 2003 TR20 and am currently running a 25p. I can run 71 mph loaded by myself. I have a 225 Optimax. You do have to drive it at WOT with max trim. I have gotten it to 76 mph with a 26p which I need to get repaired.

I can’t get speed out of a 27p. I’ve only run well with the 26p Tempest Plus. I use the 25p in shallower water for the hole shot. I can get 72 mph out of the 25p if I trim it up high enough. I have a hydraulic JP so I can adjust it as well with an 8” setback.

You will see mid to upper 70's if set up right, and if you can drive it.

This rig at high speed requires a lot of continuous driver input to keep her up and on the edge.

That rig should be capable of 70mph with the 25 Tempest but you'll be right on the Rev limit. At least mine is.

I have a 98 tr-21 and have tried all kinds of setups through the years, ive had it since 08, had a 5 in jackplate, added a 10 hydrolic tried over a dozen props etc, ran it with a 225 mercury carb until a few months ago, best all around prop was a 25p trophy, 73-76mph rig all day long anyday, best run ever was with a fury 25p at 78.6 but after I added 5in to the JP and went to 36volt TM with 3 31Agm, boat lagged terrible out the hole with fury 25p, just repowered with 250 as well as carpet seats, lithium batt etc, just waiting on new ulterra TM ATM but if u got any prop questions pm me and I'll tell u what I've tried as it is a similar setup

With that 25 fury what was your prop to pad? I have an 8 inch and can’t get anywhere near 78. About 72 is all it will do with a 25 fury.

Different motor, and maybe lower unit, mine was carb not efi and 1.75 LU, 1.75 is the standard now but some efi's had a different gear ratio , my dad's tr22 ran 76 with 25 fury all day and his hull is 300lbs heavier even though he has a 250, I don't remember the pad setting that was years ago, I could usually only get 74-76 with it depending on air temp, though but that prop didn't like the 10in JP and extra battery had to switch to a trophy, I lost a little on the top end 73-75 with the setback but handled alot better in turns and chime walked less, in 98 according to what i was told from triton the tr21 dry weight was around 1450lbs If I remember correctly, maybe your weight distribution or setup was a factor also I used to run just 2 size 27 batteries on a 24v TM when it ran 78
