    Suzuki 250ss on Ranger z21

Does anyone run a suzuki 250 of their boat? I am looking at repowering and the suzuki will be quicker to get in and has a longer warranty. They seem like good motors but wants some personal opinions from the ones who run them. I was told better reliability but a touch slower on the top end.

    Thanks,

No personal experience, but lots of them on salt water boats. I’d make sure I had somewhere to service reasonably close by. I’ve always heard finding someone to work on them can be a challenge.

There is a local dealer that is very good to work with. The only concern I have is after research they can be hard to setup for propping and seeing if anyone had recommendations for this.

I just repowered my 2003 521 with a Suzuki 250SS. I only have 2 hours on it thus far, so I cannot report any speed comparisons between it and my prior 250 HPDI due to having to break it in for 10 hrs, but I can say the holeshot is just as good. Obviously its quiet and comparitively sips fuel, wish I would've done it years ago.

Ive owned every brand of motor. The 2 suzuki's I owned were by far THE best hands down. I had a 06 225 on a 26' boat and it had thousands of hrs on it. I live on the coast and almost every outboards here are zuk's. Some of these motors have over 8000/hrs on them with just normal maintenance.

the new lower unit should make propping much easier they say

The NEW 250SS comes in at 624lbs and that the heaviest 250 outboard so check with your manufacture if your transom can handle that kind of weight.

Also, the lower unit is the same ratio as the old version so propping will be the same.

Yes, I have don extensive search on the new engine and propping the new engine will be the same as the old engine. Gear ratio is exactly the the same and the word is the new props are similar to the Scorpion.
