Shimano MGL reels vs Daiwa SV

I have a number of Daiwa SV reels and spools, and love them all. I also love the Shimanos I have, but none are MGL. Is Shimano's MGL system like Daiwa's SV? Is it in the spool? Can you put an MGL spool in a non-MGL reel and get the same effect?

    Thanks,

    Dave

Its just a shallower lighter weight shimano SVS spool. I like them for distance casting lighter baits with braid and my SV spools for lighter baits with flouro, skipping and casting into wind.

LowRange is right, the MGL is just a lightweight spool while the SV is a spool/braking system. They aren't really comparable. I also agree with LowRange on the uses, I prefer the Shimanos and their centrifugal brakes for distance casting and like the Daiwa SV for shorter presentations.
