Touchy subject . Most tournaments won’t allow it. And insurance may or may not be an issue

I get it but I have a chance to go up 6yrs and only 2500. That's the only reason my motor runs good gets me from point a to b no problem and I've run the motor tested it

If the hull's over 20' then coast guard ratings don't apply. Manufacturers rating is relevant if still under warranty. Some tournament trails will use the rating to allow or deny you entry. Some insurance companies may take issue with it and some won't.

I did what your thinking about. Wouldn’t do it over. Fuel economy was OMG compared to the 225. Top end gain of 8 mph was not worth it.
