Any way to tell how old Navionics Card is?

Lowrance Carbon on console came with a Navionics card - any way to tell how old it is? I know when I click on some features in chart settings it tells me to renew my card/membership, so I assume it's over a year old. I looked on the card with my PC and the Navionics folder is dated 2018, so my guess that is the date? How often does everyone update their cards?

I usually update mine 2 times a year. They are always adding new data.

You can put the card in your computer, open the drive that has it and click on the Navionic folder, then the Charts folder.
    The map dates are listed.
If you update your card today, the date will be today.

Files are dated 2015 for the most part.

But says sub expires Jan 2023, so I guess previous owner renewed it back in Jan?

Had to update the models, it had older one listed.

I'll try d/l updates and see what happens.

I see several different options for overlay downloads that are not checked by default - what's the consensus on these? Download them all or only need specific ones?

Satellite Overlay with SonarChart Shading - Sat views and Sonar Shading for structure, if I understand the Navionics webpage.
    Relief Shading - bottom structure
Sonar Imagery - bottom harness, this seems like it would be very useful if accurate.

You can only choose one overlay option at a time. Download the relief shading. It is awesome. Check out video for your settings.

Well unfortunately not many Florida lakes have much in the way of relief shading... so few in fact I though I might have done something or didn't do the menu setup correctly, but searching around I did see some shading on Kissimmee. But nothing in the SJR, Rodman, George, Crescent, Orange/Lochloosa, etc... kind of a bummer it looks like a sweet tool :(.

To find out if your lake can ne view with the relief shading, scroll the page to the map and use the zoom:

Thanks - interestingly it shows pretty much all of SJR and George and Crescent with Shading, so I will check again.

Just under the map you have a link identify as: Lake you got the lakes by name and by state

Ah, that's a bit sneaky lol... on the interactive Map, they make it look like all that area is covered. In reality, going by the list, only a few areas actually are...

I'm trying to get depth shading on a Carbon (or Live, if it makes a difference), ie 5ft one color, 10 another color, etc. If I can't do it with my Navionics card, the option exists if I switch to Lowrance Map, but it's greyed out, ie Depth 1, Depth 2. If I click on Customize, all the options are greyed out. Maybe it requires a C-Map purchase?

Depth shading is a feature on C-Map Reveal cards and yes you will have to purchase it.

Card arrived, loaded, I have depth shading now in Florida

Card updates - not as smooth as Navionics - I still don't think I got the update to work. Process indicators just spin - I left it for almost an hour while working on other stuff. Will do some research and come back to that later.

Ya kind of crazy my phone app has a couple things my card doesn’t. Having to pay $100 a yr to update your card is a little much.
