    FYI-setting 300 proxs 4s on 21hp

I recently re powered my 2010 21hp with a 300 proxs and although wanting as much top speed as possible I've come to value hole shot, fuel economy and rough water control over top speed so the 26p tempest + got sold in favor of a 25p and 24p fury 4 blade.
I found more chine walk than I like at top speed even though the 4 blade props were much better than the 3, so I raised the engine on the hyd jp to the center holes, got the engine to 2 3/4" ptp and checked the jp setting (at 12).
Interestingly the best hole shot then was 10-12 on the jp and fuel economy was best with jp at 12 and fully trimmed up. Best top end was then with jp at 15 and trim a touch below full up.
With the jp at 12 and fully trimmed up running 43 mph the smart craft gauge shows 3.8 gpm, compared to my former TR-196 running a 200proxs 2s at 36 getting 4.2. Not bad. Running in some rough today the boat could stay on plane at slower speed using the jp as well as better control in the rough at higher speed. All a win-win.
