    Bull Shad tips and mods

I bought a couple 6" Gizzard bull shads a few years ago and threw them quite a bit but never had any luck with them, and I sold them to a buddy. Decided to give it a try again, and bought a 5" fast sink threadfin shad this time. Are they any mods I should do to it, to increase my success? Any tips would be great, also.

I am sure there are some tricks and mods , but the only way I catch fish on Mike's baits is to fish them fast and cover water. No slow rolling with his baits.

The best way I can describe it is to fish it like a spinner bait

Wake it underneath the surface over grass flats, wood, or docks

OK, sounds like I was definitely fishing them too slow.

This also leads me to another question, though. If you are fishing them fast and close to the surface whats the point of getting a fast or slow sink as opposed to the floating?

You can cover more of the water column with the sinking models.

I get that, I just have a hard time fishing fast and deep.

My favorite size is the 4" resin one (not the plastic one). For the most part I just burn it but I will stop it and then flare it with a quick jerk around a piece of cover.
