Smallmouth fishing near G-ville

I'm just wondering if I wanted to do some smallmouth fishing and I'm living near Guntersville where would be the closest lake to go with good smallmouth?

Nickajack is one lake up from Guntersville, but you will have to go to the far north end below Chick dam in Chattanooga.
I can speak from personal experience on Nickajack.
OR
Wheeler and Wilson are downstream and have decent populations as well.
I'm saying this by research, not direct knowledge.

I catch smallies on Wheeler. Not good at it but have caught 20+ in a day, biggest 5lbs.

I have recently been told that on the Wheeler side of the Guntersville lock and dam is pretty good smallmouth hunting.

You can catch smallmouth in the extreme upper part of Guntersville...follow the swift water towards the dam...plenty of good smallmouth fishing just below Guntersville dam...the Toyota event was almost won just below Guntersville dam on smallmouth. Had the water not came up so much, no doubts in my mind that Brewer would've won that event....some of the best smallmouth fishing can be found in Florence along Pickwick and Wilson lakes...not too far of a drive...
