    Right Prop?

Would anyone know if a Power Tech 23 pitch 3-blade prop is a good set up for my 18' Xpress H56 with a Mercury 135 Optimax? I have this as an extra prop. Right now I have a 4 blade 19 pitch and hole shot is great but top speed is 41 mph and 5100 rpms at WOT.

This is my current prop and I can't really make heads or tails of the stamping!

Your RPMs are too low with a 19" pitch, you certainly don't want to go any higher. You should be at 5600-5800 RPM full throttle trimmed out with that motor.

    So going with a 17", 18" P?

I am not familer with that boat but I would say to have a problem with what you have now. You should be able to spin that prop quicker and be able to run 45-50 mph with what you have now. Did you just get the boat?

A 21" pitch stainless 3 blade should be about right for that boat and motor setup if it is running and set up correctly.

I've been having it over a year now, but it's always behaved like this. I'm now wanting to improve it's performance. Right now any trimming up I do from 41 mph and 5100 rpms causes porpoising immediately.

You would be better off posting this over in the Xpress boat section where someone with the same kind of boat can give you suggestions on what prop to use. I do know that the 135 Optimax is a powerful motor especially on that size boat and you should be able to get 50 MPH out of it when set up right.
